FAQ & What to Expect @ Home After Boarding, Daycare, Grooming
What do you supply for overnight boarding?
We recommend keeping your pet on the same diet they are use to as to not upset their stay. You must provide your pets food in pre portioned bags per meal per day. If your dog is a free feeder please fill one bag per day. If you choose to not bring food Ruffing It will provide food at a cost of $1.50 per meal. You may bring your pets favorite blanket also. Please do not bring beds. All suites, runs and condos have cots or beds already provided. Bowls are also provided and are sanitized between pets. Treats are fine although we do not allow rawhide chews. Please bring a minimal amount of items and have all items labeled with your pets name. Ruffing It will not be held responsible for lost or damaged items.
How can I check on my pet during their stay?
Ruffing It has a live webcam available for customers only. Please check with staff for log in information. You will also find this information in our lobby. You may also call and speak to a staff member or send us a text at 629-90 and we will respond as soon as possible.
My pet has a special diet. Can their needs be accommodated?
Definitely! We understand how important it is for your pets well being to keep them on the same diet. Just make sure you provide us will all the necessities and detailed instructions.
What will my pet be doing while in your care during daycare/overnights?
Having fun!! Daycare dogs get to play in our temperature controlled indoor dog park and our large fenced in outdoor areas (weather permitting). If your pet is here for over 5 hours a midday nap will be given to ensure they get adequate down time during a very active day. Overnight dogs also get the use of all of our daycare areas! Our feline friends have a wonderful private area away from the dogs will floor to ceiling windows for adequate sunlight and bird watching.
Do you take other animals for boarding/daycare/grooming?
For boarding and daycare we can definitely accommodate other animals. All equipment, cages etc must be provided by owner. Grooming is dogs only. We will, on occasion, trim cats and other small animals nails as long as they are friendly with people.
Food/Water *Dogs that behave appropriately in group play will get lots of play time and stimulation throughout the day. Sometimes due to this some dogs will not eat or drink as much as normal. So it is to be expected that they may be hungry or thirsty when arriving home. All dogs are supplied with and have access to water at all times and are offered all meals that are provided by the parents (for boarding) While staying at Ruffing It your dog(s) may not eat all or any of their food. We will try our best to entice them to eat but we can’t force them to eat. Your dog(s) will most likely be getting more stimulation and exercise than they are used to. This might mean they are burning more calories than they are taking in. So over a longer stay your dog may lose a little weight. If that does happen we recommend adding a little more food to each day next time they come. Playing/Grooming *While at Ruffing It, your dog will be interacting & playing with other dogs. Because of the nature of how dogs play (using their mouths/paws), your dog may get scratches, cuts, bruises and/or other minor injuries. We DO NOT allow fighting, mounting, or any inappropriate behaviors. However, we are unable to prevent every instance of inappropriate behavior, though we try our best to ensure a safe & happy environment for all guests. We do ask to please keep up with cutting and/or grinding your dogs nails to help minimize scratches. We do offer dog nail trims & can do them during their stay just add it to their reservation or ask when dropping off! If we do believe or witness your dogs may or have injured another dog or staff member we do reserve the right to have this service done at a rate of $10-$16 *Your dog(s) will be running around with a group of dogs for hours a day, so they may get a bit dirty &/or smelly while having fun. This is especially true during days it’s raining or spring season snow melt. You can always schedule a bath with our groomers. Appointments are Mon-Fri with some occasional Saturdays. (Book early to ensure an opening) We strongly recommend scheduling a bath for dogs staying for any extended stay. You will receive $10 off a groom/bath for any dog staying 3 or more nights. Grooming of matted dogs may also cause or expose skin conditions/sores/scratches. Stress/Health *Boarding/Daycare can be a stressful situation for a dog, especially the first time & worse for dog(s) that are more nervous, excitable and/or separation anxiety. This can cause a dog to have an upset stomach causing vomiting and/or diarrhea. This does not necessarily mean your dog is “sick.” It may just be a reaction to the stress of being away from home and all the extra adrenaline in their system while being here & playing. Sometimes there can be some blood in their stool, this is normally not an emergency. It’s Colitis caused by stress bacteria in the gut. Most of the time it will clear up within a day or two but please speak to your vet to be sure. If vomiting and/or diarrhea persist please call a vet for advice. *We will do our best to notify you of any vomiting, diarrhea or injuries that comes to our attention. *Since your dog will be interacting with other dogs, even though all of the dogs here are fully vaccinated, colds, flu, kennel cough, and other illnesses may be transmitted. Just like kids at school. We do our best to remove and isolate any symptomatic dogs, and do our best efforts to maintain the cleanest possible environment. Ruffing It will not be held responsible if your dog catches a cold, flu or kennel cough while with us. Grooming can also cause any of these issues above. Grooming is generally a stressful time for most dogs. Keeping a regular schedule and a clean and healthy coat will help alleviate this stress.
We’d like you to know we do our best to keep all dogs in our care as healthy as possible. If you have any concerns about any of these illnesses your vet can address any and all questions. Please feel free to give us a call if you have any questions or concerns regarding your dog’s stay. We strive to make you and your dog(s) as comfortable as possible. Please let us know if we can do anything better for your dog(s) next stay.
